Haus am Wald Hindelbank. House at the Edge of the Woods.

Ersatzneubau mit Holz aus eigenem Wald /// Building Replacement with Own Wood

Am Waldheimweg in Hindelbank steht seit 2010 ein Ersatzneubau in der Landwirtschaftszone. Das neue Haus musste das Erscheinungsbild des alten übernehmen, so die Vorgabe des Amtes für Gemeinden und Raumordnung. Das Innere wurde ausschliesslich am Arbeitsmodell entwickelt. Die doppelt hohen Räume öffnen sich auf die Weite der davor liegenden Felder, während die intimeren Räume sich zum Waldsaum hinter dem Haus wenden. Der Weg durchs Haus von der schmalen Tür an der Rückseite zum scheunentorartigen Hauptfenster unterstreicht diese Dramaturgie, den Wendepunkt bildet die zentrale, schiffartige Kanzel.

In 2010, we realized a building replacement in the Emmental valley. As the old house was located in an agricultural zone, the new building, according to the local authorities, had to adopt its appearance. The inside was solely developed by means of a working model. The doubly high rooms open up upon the broad acres, while the more intimate rooms face the edge of the woods behind the house. This dramaturgy is emphasized by the way through the house from the narrow door at the back to the barn door-like main window. The turning point is formed by a central, shiplike pulpit.
